LIGHTED TREE

People walking, cycling or driving past our Parish church this past week will have been instantly delighted by the visual presence of a huge lighted tall tree, dazzling it is in its monotone colouring. Well done to the priests of the Parish and their loyal helpers, particularly Noel, who has the gift of outdoor portrayal of God's greenery no matter what the season season. People like this possess an unseen talent to delight the eyes of the passer-by with their handyeork.

RECENT PUBLICATION

This week saw the publication of Histories of Protestant Limerick, 1912-1923. Parts of the Cathedral archives feature in this book, which is available as an e-book at https://shorturl.at/jNX47. A limited number of hard copies are available through Limerick City and County Library Service's Local Studies Department (This email address is being protected from spambots. DECADENT BRIDGE

Yes, it is in a woeful state, and for years past, that noble bridge dedicated and named tafter the late Bishop O'Dwyer, that tops the Abbey River, home to many an annual Regatta for decades. There are motions as to the repair or otherwise of the said Bridge and who knows things might even transpire. There's a saying 'there are hopes from the ocean' well in this case let's aspire for 'hopes from the Abbey River'! It has become a well-established factbt now that next April we celebrate the bi-centenary of Athlunkard Street.

CAROL SERVICE

Following the switching on of the Christmas lights at 7pm on Friday, December 8th, everyone is invited to our annual Carol Service at our parish church. This Yuletide event has proven over the years to be a most enjoyable introduction to the said season and serves as a sociable occasion as people meet many acquaintances they may not have seen for a year or more. Well done to both parish choirs who have remained melodiously active in providing solace to all who attend the weekend Masses!
